Work, Retire, Repeat: The Uncertainty of Retirement in the New Economy เป็นงานสารคดีเชิงวิเคราะห์ด้านนโยบายสังคมและเศรษฐศาสตร์แรงงาน โดยเทเรซา กิลลาร์ดูชี นักเศรษฐศาสตร์แรงงานจาก The New School หนังสือเล่มนี้มุ่งอธิบายว่าระบบเกษียณอายุของสหรัฐอเมริกากำลังทำงานไม่เพียงพอสำหรับคนส่วนใหญ่ โดยเฉพาะผู้มีรายได้ต่ำถึงปานกลางที่ไม่มีบำนาญจากนายจ้างและมีเงินออมไม่พอใช้ยามชรา แกนกลางของหนังสือคือการวิจารณ์แนวคิดที่เรียกว่า Working Longer Consensus ซึ่งเชื่อว่าคนทำงานต่ออีกไม่กี่ปีจะช่วยแก้ปัญหาความมั่นคงหลังเกษียณได้ แต่ผู้เขียนชี้ว่าแนวคิดนี้ตั้งอยู่บนสมมติฐานที่อ่อนแอ ทั้งเรื่องสุขภาพ อายุงาน ความต้องการแรงงานสูงวัย และความสามารถในการออมของครัวเรือน หนังสือเล่มนี้จึงเป็นทั้งการสำรวจปัญหาและข้อเสนอเชิงนโยบายเพื่อระบบเกษียณที่เป็นธรรมและมั่นคงมากขึ้น
